Creating a new experience at Bayshore Community Hospital

By Tony Cava

A collaborative working relationship with physicians has long been recognized as a critical factor in successful hospital and health system performance. As you’ve read in this column for several months now, Bayshore Community Hospital has made significant operational and clinical changes in the past 16 months, all toward the goal of “Creating a New Experience” for patients and their families. An integral part of this growth has revolved around the physicians. The enhancements to the hospital have attracted more than 130 new physicians — these are specialists, expert surgeons, and groups of physicians who have joined to provide core services to the hospital. From excellent nursing support, including additional training to support new surgical procedures and post-op care, to new equipment, to two new minimally invasive operating rooms, Bayshore is committed to providing the physicians with the tools they require to do their job and the support from everyone around them. The goal is to be physician and patient friendly. The team is focused on creating an environment in which physicians enjoy practicing and patients feel comfortable healing. The anesthesia group from Riverview Medical Center joined the medical staff earlier this year, attracting new surgeons to practice at Bayshore. In addition, traditional 24/7 coverage of patients has been enhanced to include all board-certified physicians to assist with urgent care services.

While Bayshore has attracted a number of excellent physicians already, there are plans to attract many more in the coming years to provide care in a number of specialty areas and new programs including: bariatrics, oncology, wound and cardiovascular services. They have a vision to bring top surgeons in a widerange of specialties to Bayshore in order to provide the residents of Northern Monmouth County the very best in clinical excellence.

An exceptional patient experience is central to the health care mission of Meridian Health and the doctors are at the forefront of delivering upon that mission. The medical staff at Bayshore has a wide variety of skilled and experienced physicians ready to care for you and your family. To find out more about a physician or service, call (800) 560- 9990.
