Local EMS workers honored at Monmouth Medical Center’s EMS Appreciation Night

Nearly 100 men and women were honored at Monmouth Medical Center’s EMS Appreciation Night for Monmouth County’s First Responders on May 17.The event recognized the dedication, commitment and outstanding service of those who are first on the scene of emergencies and accidents.

The EMS workers gathered at the West Long Branch Community Center with their pockets and purses filled with everything from paperclips to orange peels in hopes of being selected to“Let’s Make a Deal,” the theme for the evening.

Robin Kampf, owner of RJK Media and specialist professor at Monmouth University, was the emcee for the event.

EMS Appreciation Night was held as part of National EMSWeek in honor of EMS Everyday Heroes who anytime, anywhere will be there.Their pledge is “When you call 911, you get help, no matter what your circumstance.”

“Our local Emergency Medical Services teams work tirelessly and are extremely dedicated to helping community members in times of dire need and stress,” says Catherine Hanlon, M.D., medical director of Monmouth Medical Center’s Emergency Department. “This night gives us the opportunity to thank them for the work they do and show them that they are truly appreciated.”

More than 100 prizes, donated by area merchants, were awarded to EMS participants.

Event Underwriters included Branches Catering; EMA (Emergency Medical Associates); Galaxy Toyota Scion; HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls, a partnership with Monmouth Medical Center; and MONOC (Monmouth Ocean Healthcare Cooperative).

The evening’s Italian food was donated by Branches Catering in West Long Branch, Caputo Italian Pastry Shop in Long Branch, Freddie’s Restaurant & Pizzeria in Long Branch, Scala’s Pizzeria in Long Branch, La Scarpetta Italian Restaurant in West Long Branch, Nino Jr.’s Italian Specialty in Oakhurst, and Tuzzio’s Italian Cuisine in Long Branch. Music was generously provided by DJ Nick Falzo of EZE Entertainment.
