There are many common foot problems

There are many common foot problems that should not be ignored;a simple bruised or broken toe, if left untreated, can lead to future problems such as arthritis and possible deformity. If this occurs, don't ignore it; seek the help of a podiatrist who will X-ray the foot and determine if the toe is broken.Another common problem is the sprained ankle or foot, which can happen with just a misstep. Immediately, remember the RICE therapy in the event of a sprain: rest, ice, compression and elevation of the extremity. This simple rule can help you immediately until you get to see a podiatrist.

One of the most common foot problems is the dreaded ingrown nail, which can get infected very easily. If the nail is cut improperly and it grows incorrectly into the skin, it is ingrown. This can fester and get infected. If this happens, the toe may be soaked in warm water with table salt to reduce the inflammation. However, the ingrown nail should then be removed by a podiatrist with a local anesthetic.

Fungal infections are very common and can affect the skin and nails of the feet. There are numerous treatment options for fungal infections and your podiatrist may prescribe topical or oral medications for this problem.

Another common foot problem is warts;warts are very common since they are viral and can be spread easily.Treatments can include cryotherapy, acid therapy and oral medications including vitamins.
