Bayshore Community Hospital celebrates grand opening of oncology infusion suite

Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, celebrates the grand opening of a new infusion suite for cancer patients needing chemotherapy and immunotherapy.This comfortable and caring environment, staffed by oncology-credentialed registered nurses, has the capacity to treat 20 patients simultaneously.

Bayshore is committed to treat the complexities of cancer and offer stateof the-art care to patients in close proximity to their homes.Bayshore's leader in that care is Dr. Michael Kane, M.D., F.A.C.P., board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology, and medical director of the oncology program at Bayshore Community Hospital.

"It is our goal," said Dr. Kane,"to respond rapidly and individually to each patient receiving cancer care at Bayshore.We have standardized and expedited the way patient care is delivered so that the lives of our patients and their families are disrupted as minimally as possible."

The new infusion suite is a relaxing, light-filled environment that offers private rooms with individual flat screen televisions, computer access to educational materials and available complementary procedures such as Reiki therapy.The new Infusion Suite is only one step in Bayshore's commitment to fighting cancer.Bayshore Community Health Services complements its cancer program with the recent addition of a clinical and chemotherapy pharmacist, an award-winning cancer registry program that keeps timely and accurate data so health care providers and patients can make informed treatment decisions, and soon to begin, clinical cancer research trials.
