CentraState names special care nursery for daughter of ob/gyns
In gratitude of a generous donation from two obstetrician/gynecologists, CentraState Medical Center has renamed its special care nursery the Colette Cipriano Special Care Nursery in honor of their daughter.

Rebecca Cipriano, M.D., and Joseph Cipriano, M.D., stand with their daughter, Colette, in front of the Colette Cipriano Special Care Nursery at CentraState Medical Center.
Colette Cipriano was born prematurely at CentraState three years ago and required specialized care in the Special Care Nursery. Her parents Rebecca Cipriano, M.D., and Joseph Cipriano, M.D., of Colts Neck Ob/Gyn - two of the busiest obstetrician/gynecologists on staff at CentraState - recently donated $150,000 to the unit.

With more women choosing CentraState to deliver - deliveries are up 50 percent over the past five years - the demands of the Special Care Nursery have grown. In 2006 CentraState set another birth record for the hospital, delivering 1,878 babies. To meet this growing need, in 2005 CentraState completed a $687,000 expansion of the Special Care Nursery from four to eight bassinets, and added incubators called isolettes and several other new features. The Special Care Nursery is licensed by the N.J.Department of Health and Senior Services as an intermediate care, level 2 special care nursery. The unit is staffed by neonatologists who are on duty 24/7 and nurses with advanced training in the care of premature infants, multiple births and other special needs.

Last month,CentraState also set a record for the most babies delivered in one month, when 200 babies were born.
