Bayshore names Elias J. Lehaf 2007 Physician of the Year Elias J. Lehaf,M.D., has been named Bayshore Community Health Services' Physician of theYear by the hospital's medical staff.Dr. Lehaf will be recognized at the Bayshore Community Hospital Foundation's,"Rainbows and Promises"Charity Ball on Oct. 20 at the Robert B.Meyner Reception Center/ PNC Arts Center,Holmdel,New Jersey. Elias J. Lehaf, M.D. "Dr. Lehaf has been intimately involved with the hospital and medical staff operations for many years," says Adrian M. Pristas, M.D.,president of the Medical Staff of Bayshore Community Hospital."He is clearly one of the best medical leaders on the medical staff because of his steadfast and ongoing affiliations with the hospital." Dr. Lehaf has been on Bayshore Community Hospital's medical staff since 1972.He is currently chairman of the Bayshore Hospital Utilization Review Committee and member of the Credentials Committee, also vice chairman of Performance Improvement Committee. He served as president of the medical staff in 1994 and has a private practice with Matawan Medical Associates for 35 years. On receiving this honor,Dr. Lehaf notes,"My career as a physician has been very rewarding and satisfying to me; receiving this honor is an added bonus I never expected." Dr. Lehaf received his medical degree from Cairo University Medical School, Cairo, Egypt.He completed his residency in Internal Medicine in St. George's Hospital,Beirut, Lebanon, in June of 1967. In 1972 he completed another residency at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, in internal medicine. In 1971 Dr. Lehaf was chief resident in Internal Medicine also at Monmouth Medical Center. Dr. Lehaf resides in Holmdel with his wife,Mary, and their three children. Friends of Dr. Lehaf are invited to join Bayshore in paying tribute to him at the Oct. 20"Rainbows and Promises" Charity Ball.
