Diabetes education program merits ADA recognition
The Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center at CentraState recently was awarded the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Education Recognition Certificate for its diabetes self-management education program.
Diabetes self-management education (DSME) is defined by theADA as the ongoing process of facilitating the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for diabetes self-care.The overall objectives of the program are to support informed decision-making, self-care behaviors, problem-solving and active collaboration with the health care team and to improve clinical outcomes, health status, and quality of life.
CentraState's recognition by the ADA identifies CentraState as providing quality diabetes self-management education services that meet the national standards. The Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center at CentraState gives patients the detailed information they need to be more successful with their diabetes management.
