Public invited to participate in CCFA's Guts & Glory Walk

The New Jersey Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation ofAmerica (CCFA) will hold its Guts & Glory 5K Walk on Sept. 8 at 10 a.m., atTaylor Pavilion and Ocean Avenue in Belmar. Proceeds from the event will benefit CCFA's research and education programs that help people suffering from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), affect up to 41,000 New Jersey residents, and approximately 1.4 million Americans. These diseases inflame the intestines, often causing serious complications. In fact, if the disease are not treated properly, complications can be life threatening. Yet,many people suffer in silence despite symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea. Like most Americans, they've been taught to keep their bathroom habits private.

Registered Guts & Glory participants can enjoy a light breakfast as well as the opportunity to receive a free t-shirt for raising over $75 in sponsorships. Participants are encouraged to form teams consisting of family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. For additional information about this event, call the New Jersey CCFA office at (732) 786-9960. Preregistration is not required but strongly suggested.
