Monmouth Medical to hold free blood pressure screenings

Learn whether you suffer from hypertension during free blood screenings to be presented by Monmouth Medical Center on two dates and locations.

On Sept. 11, Long Branch Senior Center, 85 Second Ave., will host a blood pressure check from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for adults age 60 and older.

On Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., screenings will be provided at Monmouth Medical Center's monthly "To Your Health" showcase at Monmouth Mall. The display will be situated near the food court at the Eatontown-based mall, located at Routes 35 and 36.

Major risk factors for hypertension include advancing age, obesity, heredity or prehypertension, which is defined as having a blood pressure reading of between 120-139/80-89.

Registration is not required for either screening. For more information, call the Community Health Education Department at Monmouth Medical Center at (732) 923-6990.
